New Urban Arts: Art + History Project

Hello world!

Welcome to the Art + History blog for New Urban Arts! The Art + History project is put on by the Department of Public Humanities located at the John Nicolas Brown House on Benefit & Williams St. As part of the public programming for the project, Brown Graduate students are collaborating with students, mentors, and staff at New Urban Arts to develop site specific (see definition below) work relating to the theme “art + history”. We will use this blog to post our conversations, ideas, pictures, and other resources. All are welcome to view the blog and post comments, but if you would like to start your own topic or  post pics you have to set up a wordpress account and see Julia to approve you as an “administrator”. Email me at jtgualtieri@gmail.com or find me in the studio if you have any questions about how to do this.

site specific- there are many definitions of “site specific artwork.” this is a basic definition from the Wikipedia

site specific artwork is created to exist in a certain place. Typically, the artist takes the location into account while planning and creating the artwork.
